Fissure diving

Silfra is one of Iceland’s best-kept secrets and is a world 3 diving site located about hour drive from Reykjavík in the heart of Þingvellir, the site of the world’s oldest parliament and a UNESCO world heritage site.
The Silfra is actually a crack an otherworldly scene located directly on top of the rift between the continents of America and Europe, which are drifting apart about 4-6 cm every year.

Silfra has a constant temperature of 1-3°C all year around because water is coming up from the lava after traveling for years underground from our glaciers. Silfrar’s crystal clear water in the deep fissure gives you a feeling of being weightless as you glide along with the lazy current. Visibility is amazing and is only limited by the density of the water itself.
Silfra offers open water diving, caving and deep diving.  Depth varies from 20 to 40 meters in the open water and 60 meters inside of a cave. Weather does not play any part in diving in Silfra, except it’s more beautiful in sunny weather.  This is without question one of the best dive sites in the world.
